Health Rally
For the fourth year in a row, the communities through which Rally Guanajuato Mexico passes are to benefit from the Health Rally, a collaborative project organized by rally organizers and the State of Guanajuato's Health Department, and which now is proud to include the support of Ópticas Lux.
The main aim of the program is to improve the health conditions of those who live along the route of the event, by providing them with medical and dental check-ups, cervical cancer screening, and testing for diabetes and high blood pressure at mobile medical units, as well as promoting health and welfare services for youngsters, so as to achieve well-balanced social development, which in turn benefits the community in general as locals come to identify more and more with Rally Guanajuato Mexico thanks to the range of benefits the event brings.
The Health Rally starts on February 7 in the village of Alfaro, and will then move on to the communities of Sangre de Cristo, Santa Ana, Lomas de Yerbabuena, Derramadero, Nuevo Valle, Monte de San Nicolás, San José de Otates Sur, San José de Otates Norte,Vaquerías, Ibarrilla, Calderones, Sauz Seco, Rincón de Ortega, Alisos, Llanos de la Fragua, El Cubilete, Duarte, El Gigante and Mangas de la Estancia, before drawing to a close on the 7th of March.
Thanks to the experience gained in 2011, this year up to four visits will be made to each community, in order to ensure better attention is provided in terms of medical and dental treatment by making sure that all cases requiring follow-up receive it.
In 2012, the challenge will be to reach even more people than last year, when 5,883 people received some kind of treatment involving the services mentioned above, benefitting a population of some 24,823 inhabitants.
Specific Objectives:
- To provide free medical checkups.
- To provide dental care education to the local community.
- To promote awareness of the importance of oral health among the local population.
- To provide first-class attention to those members of the community who request it.
